The Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) is a non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington and is committed to developing vaccines and diagnostic tools for use in the developing world. IDRI is currently seeking a motivated scientific professional to join our immunology group, with a particular focus on preclinical studies related to infectious disease models and vaccine adjuvants.

Qualifications:
• A BS/BA, or equivalent in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 1-3 years of related laboratory experience.
• Experience and skills with tissue culture, in vivo models, flow cytometry and/or cellular immunology
• Experience working under Biosafety Level 2 or 3 (BL2/BL3) conditions preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office and scientific data/graphics programs.
• Must be self-motivated, organized and be able to work on teams

Primary Responsibilities:
• Preparation of blood and tissues from rodents for ex vivo assays under BSL3 conditions.
• Perform tissue culture, ELISA, ELISPOTS, flow cytometry, and other immunological assays.
• Utilize established mathematical programs and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data.
• Responsible for performing research for scientific projects, in collaboration with others.
• Records procedures, outcomes and observations in lab notebook following established guidelines.
• Monitor laboratory supply inventories and work with purchasing to ensure available stock for group or area.
• Communicate with research management on a regular basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Work in a team under general supervision.
• Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Able to use limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Able to perform multiple scientific protocols and procedures under direction.
• Good written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to work with co-workers and outside agencies professionally and tactfully.
• Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality, and accuracy.
