thePlatform, a Comcast company, is looking for a multi-talented Deployment Engineer for its digital media professional services group, which develops solutions for media, entertainment and enterprise markets.
thePlatform is an industry-leading provider of digital media publishing solutions. thePlatform is headquartered in Seattle and was founded in 2000. The company's flagship product, thePlatform media publishing system (mps), is the industry's most comprehensive solution for media, entertainment and enterprise customers. With mps, customers can publish digital media anywhere - over any network, to any device. Custom feature enhancements and seamless systems integration are simple using the Web services-based mps SDK.
This position requires a strong technical background in deploying and supporting enterprise server applications and ideal candidates will have extensive experience in trouble-shooting and maintaining on-side deployed solutions. The position does not require programming, but it does require the technical ability to diagnose and trouble-shoot a variety of problems, from networking, to databases, to deployment scripts.
The Platforms mps can be deployed in a multitude of different situations. It will be the job of the deployment engineer to be involved in the design of and be responsible for the successful deployment of mps in geographically diverse locations. Ongoing support, planning, implementing software and hardware upgrades, and trouble shooting are all part of the daily job description. Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities:
Deploy new code and updates to our existing web services in multiple data centers
Work directly with our Professional Services team to design and implement on-site installations of our products.
Gather product requirements and installation details from customers.
Determine how to satisfy these requirements with the installation of thePlatforms products.
Work with team members to estimate the work for a given project.
Design and implement a support plan for an installation.
Maintain and update the installation documentation and trouble-shooting guides as appropriate.
Work proactively to avoid schedule slips or cost overruns.
Maintain day-to-day communication with customers, the development team, and upper management.
Requirements:
Knowledge of networks, databases, and web server architecture.
Familiarity with J2EE and .NET server applications.
Strong technical experience installing and trouble-shooting web-based applications
Strong Linux scripting experience
Experience with Agile project management tools and methods is a plus
Experience designing and implementing site-specific server installations, including requirement gathering, hardware purchasing etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Keen attention to detail and high level of commitment.
Understanding of web services technologies, including SOAP and related standards.
Proficiency in .NET, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and XML a plus
