Senior Linux Systems Administrator
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network, server, SAN/NAS hardware, software, and related infrastructure.
This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that infrastructure hardware, operating system, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
This individual posses a strong blend of system administration and network administration skills in a highly dynamic and enterprise class production environment.
Competencies/Essential Skills/Qualifications:
6+ years of experience with Linux System administration (can include: Cent OS 5 and RedHat Enterprise Linux.
5 years of experience with Cisco, F5, and other networking technologies. Both Cisco and F5 are highly preferred.
Must have experience with J2EE and application servers such as WebLogic, JBoss, and Tomcat
SAN experience required.
NAS (network appliance) experience highly preferred.
Experience load-balancing MySQL database technologies. Oracle is nice to have as well.
Be available 24/7 to respond to emergency situations, on-call rotation responsibilities, and perform regularly scheduled maintenance.
Expert maintaining servers for standard internet services such as DNS, NFS, DHCP, Samba, mail (e.g. Postfix, Sendmail), and FTP service
Experienced with standard backup infrastructures, Linux system and program installation, compilation and configuration, system-level security procedures
Experience with secure web servers such as Apache with mod_ssl
Familiarity with cryptography tools (e.g. secure shell, OpenSSL, IPSec)
Experienced with Perl and CGI scripting, shell scripting strongly desired.
CCNP, CCIE, and Linux certification strongly desired.
Experience with monitoring tools such as OpenNMS, Hp OpenView, Zenoss. Nagios
Major Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain an existing and new server, network, SAN/NAS infrastructure including day-to-day operational support in a multi-site Geo-Redundant data center production environment.
Participate in designing and implementing new technology solutions to meet specific business needs.
Continually evaluate the operations of the environment, and assist in the optimization and delivery of Geo-redundant network and server infrastructure improvements.
Consistently meet or exceed the SLA's set with the clients for the services provided.
Be available 24/7 to respond to emergency situations, on-call responsibilities, and perform regularly scheduled maintenance.
Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning.
Document processes, procedures, infrastructure configuration, and maintain operational runbooks.
Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system and network administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Provide technical leadership and is able to work closely with counterparts in other offices.
Maintain a professional relationship with client and peers.?
This is a highly technical hands-on role. Requirements can be dynamic as the company grows quickly.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work unsupervised under pressure.
Mentor other operations personnel.
Help define/update network and server infrastructure operating procedures and best practices.
Ensuring system security, availability and performance.
Documenting system configurations, diagrams and procedures.
Assist company in achieving zero down time through feedback on production experiences with services, sharing risks and mitigating actions.

Education/Training Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
