I have been against the war in Iraq since the very beginning when Bush, Condi, Cheney and the rest started their bullshit saber rattling.
Oly man is right on this. The Dems didn't/won't do anything about it except spout off a bunch of bull. Personally, I don't think the Dems are exactly FOR the war. But they're too damned fearful to take a stand.
I gave them a chance to prove they could do something. I voted in the mid terms with high hopes that the message might get through.
And the message DID get through, pretty loud and clear. But the dem leadership decided to ignore it. What the hell, they're back in power, why rock the boat?
Of course, that's what we elected them to do and they fucking wimped out. Bush still has the bulk of the blame for this mess but the Dems had a whole bunch of tools at their disposal and they didn't act. They won't act. They're a bunch of spineless politicians looking out for their own ass first.
They might not have prevailed in their efforts. They might have lost. But they didn't even try. They were/are afraid of failing (veto/looking bad/whatever). They never figured out they would have gotten some respect if they stood up for what's right instead of sitting on their hands.
