So me and my fiancee have talked about getting a dog, so I thought I would start on here hoping to find the perfect boy or girl to call ours...

IDEAL Dog for us:

-2-3 years old
-Manners in the house (housebroken, does well when alone, barks only if being a house guard dog)
-Knows basic commands (stay, come, leave it being the most important but willing to work if they know sit, lay, etc.)
-Small - med size. (Jack Russell Terriers are our favorites but we aren't being picky)
-Fixed (if not, willing to do so, with a lesser rehoming fee)
_would be a bonus if they came with some supplies (crate/kennel, any extra food just so if we decide to switch foods, it would be an easier transition) but will not reject just because they don't.
What we can offer:
-Fenced front yard
-We live in a duplex setting (bottom floor of the house - easier to take out and play with!) :)
-I loved taking my family dogs to the dog parks, the beach, pretty much anywhere I could take them.
-Loving mama (me), papa (fiancee), and big brother (room mate) all who have experience with dogs and feel like we're going NUTS without one!
-They would be an only pet (aside from our 2 caged rats)
-FOREVER HOME

I don't understand how you can ask so much money for an animal that you "just want a good home for". You could prevent a poor animal from getting a good loving home because you want so much money for it. My big question is where does the welfare of a living animal come above people's greed? I would not bat an eye at spending over $100 on a vet visit or food and toys, but I can not hand that kind of money over to someone who is supposedly just looking for a good home for the pet. How does you getting money mean it's going to be a good home for the pet? Pets are supposed to be family not a commodity to make money off of.

Peso is a 3 year old male neutered 10 pound Chihuahua/dachshund mix rescued from a high-kill shelter in Southern California. He is a total love, and wants nothing more than to cuddle all day with his people. He gives gentle kisses, and always wants to be close. He is also completely house trained! He has done very well with other dogs, and has not shown aggression to cats. We have not had him around children yet.

We had him neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, vet evaluated and had cherry eye surgery performed (fixed a gland on his third eyelid). He is ready for adoption today!

I am sorry for your loss. But, now you are seeking the driver of the vehicle? There is NO blame on them. Don't get me wrong, I am a total animal lover, and I believe in keeping my babies safe, and know that it is MY job to do so.

Your dog was running lose, unleashed, and unsupervised on a winding/busy/dark street.
You didn't train her to stop on command, and wait for you.
Your friend was honking/yelling from behind the driver - causing them to look into the rear-view, and into their headlights, and Off the road where your dog was.
You were yelling and waving from the side of the road - again causing the drivers eyes to be other than on the road, where your dog was.

It was a small dog, that was hit by the back tires, while not one, but two people were honking and yelling. My guess would be that what the driver saw, if anything, was you and your friends honking and yelling at EACH OTHER. One person walking along the road, flagging down her friends for a ride. I doubt that the driver never saw the dog at all.

And, if they had? If they had seen? If the dog was that close, there was very little chance the driver could have stopped in time, if they had seen the dog at all. Or, perhaps they could have swerved, hitting you as you ran along the road, or hitting another car, or your friends. You, not the driver would have been responsible for the ensuing accident. Caused by your dog running loose. Any driving class/manual does NOT advocate swerving to miss an animal, particularly if there is on-coming traffic and/or pedestrians which may be injured.

Yes, this is a sad tale. But the lesson is not to drivers, but to any pet owner. Leash them, train them, keep them under control. It is a big ugly world out there, when you are small and furry. If you don't keep them safe, don't expect the world to.

Yes, this is a tragic accident. But, the accident, the tragedy was not that the driver hit the dog. It was that the dog was in the path of the driver. The dog escaped, was let out, was not attended to, and was put in harm's way. Sadly, this time, and for this dog ... Harm found her.

Hey there, to begin, this isn't a hate post or anything, I just have recently gotten past the point of grieving for the loss of my baby that I can write this and hope either the person responsible reads it, or someone with any info may be able to contact me. I am only wanting to make sure the person responsible knows what they did, not looking for any money or other material apology.
If that person never sees this, maybe someone who does will be able to prevent their baby from being watched by people who dont know your dog, not really, maybe I can save a life when I couldn't save my own baby.

My Baby Gia was the light of my life. She knew me so well, and when life sucked, she got me out of bed each morning.
On this particular Sunday evening, after hesitation, looking down at her pleading eyes "let me come with you, Mom. I'll be good" I agreed to my Little Gia being watched by a family friend, "Please keep her inside, she is very attached and is scared of strange people." I asked. "I will, you have nothing to worry about." I was told.
I was close by helping a friend load a truck, and in about an hour, I received a call and was informed that she had been let outside, and taken off in the direction I used to live.
I got to the area just too late to be told she had taken off down a hill to Kent Des Moines Road, 8pm- dark, headlights, heart pounding.
I ran and ran, calling her name- she was scared of all people except me. A few people pointed North in the direction they had seen her running.

Yes, I AM aware that my dog was a small dog, and her coat was partially black, so there is a chance you had no idea what happened. But other factors about that night may trigger your memory, you being either someone, passenger or driver, in the Car that killed her, or a friend of this person who was later told of a strange event:

This may have been what you saw that night, or could have been told by someone who was there.

The Accident took place at approximately 2024 S Kent Des Moines Rd, SeaTac (Or Seattle, Or Des Moines) WA
It was around 8pm on August 30th, 2009- a Sunday night.
You would have been driving North the curvy part of Kent-Des-Moines RD. Maybe in a (posibly red, maroon, or brown SUV or Truck or Van- not positive- was too conderned about my dog...)
You would have seen a Girl with Short Dark Hair- Young, Early 20's in a Seahawks Jersey and Jeans running SOUTH down your side of the street, waving her arms.

At this point, my little baby dog finally spotted me (Me being the girl described above) directly across the street, 20minutes into this frantic search, she was still alive! I heard her bark, the bark that says "Mommy! I Found you! I Ran to you and I am here!"

But I was across the street.

In those 5 seconds, my life changed forever.

She squealed with excitement, she was safe. Your car was the first in a small line coming North. Some people had stopped the southbound Cars. My friends Mom who was responsible for her escape was in her car behind you, honking frantically, Yelling stop.

I was screaming.

Gia Ran to me, Dodged your first front tire, then the second front... then stopped, Ducked, thinking she had avoided some huge obstical between her and I. But before she could move again, your back tire slammed into her tiny head, she went rolling once, twice, three times, and there was nothing, I could hear nothing. I could feel my body Jerking in Sobs but I couldnt hear anything.

The lady behind you Screamed at you again to stop.
I screamed to stop.
I ran towards you.
You were clearly not going to stop.

The last thing you might have seen was a sobbing girl, barley strong enough to lift both of my arms and flip you off, knowing you would go home to your normal life, just another day, not knowing or caring that you had killed her, killed a part of me, and changed my world forver.

Yeah, this isn't the happiest thing out there, but somehow, I hope I will find this person and make sure they know- I am not out for revenge. I just need that closure.

For those of you who may have been there, tried to help- thank you, with all my heart.

For those of you who are just reading this, take care of your babies, dogs, children- You never know when that "I love you" could be your last.

I have two gorgeous cats who are looking for a loving new home. They were born October 8th 2007 and are spayed and neutered. Richard is very affectionate, great with children, loves to be carried around, loves car rides (as long as he isn't in a pet carrier) and is an excellent mouser who loves the outdoors. Connie is also very affectionate and loves to play with string toys. She stays indoors, is very active, and loves to be brushed. It would be ideal that they go together but not required. We love these cats but are unable to care for them any longer. I would hate to have to take them to the shelter and risk them being put down. We are asking for a $20 total adoption fee to ensure they aren't being taken to some kind of laboratory. We also have a large cat tower they use to sharpen their claws and sleep on that you can take if you are able to haul it (its about 6 ft tall).

My sweet boy needs a good home, Our home unfortunately is not the best home for him. He is a year old, black and tan, and is fixed and up to date on his shots. An ideal home would be a family with only one other dog or no other dogs, he is not aggressive with other dogs, hes just more timid and need more attention!! He will pee when he gets scared and has done it his entire life, but once you get to know him, he is the sweetest boy in the world. he is completely housetrained and has no problems in the house. We feed our animals Taste of the Wild. The dogs were on Blue Buffalo, but I find this food to be of higher quality for equal or less cost. Since switching, I have noticed that they are leaner (especially the cat, who was on Iams before) and their coats look very shiny. Right now, the dogs are on the Wetlands formula, which does have some chicken, but some of the varieties don't. I rotate between flavors.

I have an Australian Cattle Dog and Basenji mix who needs to find a new home. She's 35 lbs, 3.5 years old, female - spayed, microchipped.

She is crate trained, house trained, good with cats (I have a cat) and kids (although she is rambunctious, so would want to be careful with very small children), very high energy, easy to train (sometimes too smart for her own good), doesn't run away (you can take her on hikes off leash, etc.), has gone to group dog obedience classes and had private training. She's very sweet and loves to cuddle up with her humans.

I hear you now - If this dog is so great, why are you looking to rehome her:

She's getting neurotic in my apt alone for 9 hours a day. She is high energy and needs lots of exercise. She's starting to lick herself and my recliner obsessively. She throws herself in front of the door wanting to go out everytime I need to leave. Whining to go out. She's a herding dog. I run with her, and take her to the dog park once a week. Now I need to start traveling for work. She'll end up kenneled sometimes which I hate. I'll have even less time to exercise her. I am a single man with a full time job. My neighbor come to visit daily and gives her a short walk, but again, not enough. I tried to take her to dog day care but she does not tolerate lots of other dog shoving their noses in her face. (She likes other dogs, but sometimes takes a bit to warm up to them.) She doesn't fetch (despite me and the professional trainer trying) so she either needs to run loose or you have to run with her on leash.

When I adopted this dog I was not well educated as to this breed. She is not well suited to a 500 sq foot apartment everyday. Hindsight is 20/20 and I should have adopted a dog more suited to apt life. But I didn't and she is my responsibility, I love her, and now she needs to find a home where her needs are met.

To her credit, despite getting anxious and neurotic she has never destroyed anything in my house. She occasionally piddles when she gets overexcited meeting new people - I usually have her meet new folks outside, just in case.

The ideal home would be:

A farm with cattle to herd or someone with an outdoor job where she could be there with you all day.
Realistically though, a family with lots of space for her to roam.
Access to the outdoors via a dog door if people aren't home during the day
Someone who is patient with a dog who is rambunctious and a little needy

There is a lot of selling/flagging/hating/judging going on in the pet section.
As well as RE-Homing pets, I think it would be cool to be used as a helpful resource for pet owners.

Since I am a owner/lover of two dogs, I find it interesting to see what other people feed their dogs or reccommend.

I reccommend ARCANA PACIFICA Dog food.
One of my dogs is allergic to grain and chicken...so we had to change his food to mainly seafood based ingredients.
They both love it!! Loaded with protein...with various types of fish and antioxidants.
It cost 15 bucks for a 5.5lb at my local natural pet store. It's on the pricey side, but I find it well worth it.

My dogs used to eat FIRST MATE SALMON & POTATO formula. My dogs loved it...but their stool was always hard. I changed to ARCANA because their kibble were smaller and easier to chew.

There is also fish oil in ARCANA dog food...which give my dogs a beautiful shiny coat.

I just got a knock on my door from the manager. I have 2 weeks to find Jager a new home. He is in obedience training. he knows how to walk on a leash and come when called from 10 ft away . he is in basic obedience right now. The problem that i am having with him is that he barks when left alone and barks when you come home for about 5-10 mins. he is a good dog other wise. he doesnt do good with kids under 3 or cats. 7 Shih Tzu dogs rescued - need homes! (puget sound region)

There will be no cute story with this announcement because it�s not a cute situation.
We recently took in numerous Shih Tzus that were the result of an irresponsible home breeder which you can view on our website. There were the usual expenses of spaying/neutering and vaccinations but the unexpected rapidly set in. Huge amounts of dental work were needed on the dogs. One dog alone had 25 teeth extracted. Two dogs had teeth that were so bad that the resulting infections caused their jaws to break. It gets worse. One little female had a lump that the vet feared was or could become mammary cancer so that was surgically removed. And it gets worse again. One little female was X-rayed and found to have a bladder stone the size of a golf ball. Can you imagine a dog that�s about 10 pounds with a golf ball sized stone in the bladder?

He is a very loving dog, protective of the home, will bark if he hears noises outside. If somebody enters that he doesn't know he will run towards to the door to investigate and bark if he doesn't know them. Very well trained, very loving and protective.

He is kennel/crate trained, Full vaccinations and shots. He will cuddle with you on the bed, or sleep on his bed, or sleep in the kennel whichever you prefer! Loves to play with other dogs, and will play fetch for days on end! He also loves to swim! Part lab part boxer part shepard.

Kevin Brayden here. Just wanted to say thanks to all those Pugs who showed up last time for the meet up. Remember, I make the dog treats and sell them on-line, so feel free to email me anytime to buy some for your little rascal at a discounted rate. I dog sit and kennel at my home for small dogs as well for a discounted rate. I have all openings available for dog sitting now thru Thanksgiving week, Christmas Holidays, as well as New Years. I have Dec. 21-25th booked as well as Jan. 2-3rd. If interested, feel free to contact me at any of my info below.

This is our permanent meeting place every other Sunday at 11am. As usual, I will be selling my homemade dog treats at the meet for $1.00 a bag of 6 treats. Bring your PUG, camera, and lets have some snorting PUG fun! THERE IS NO ADMISSION FEE TO YOU OR YOUR PUG AT ALL. Donations are gladly accepted though to support the Tacoma Pug Group. Only cost is if you want to buy dog treats. ALL dogs and owners are welcome as well.

Looking for a Rat Cage (willing to pick up)

I was cleaning out the terarium for my two ratties and the terarium base broke!

So, I am looking for a free-affordable replacement for my girls. (It's almost payday and I am pretty broke right now)
-Terarium would need to be a 20 gallon (20"x12.5") to fit the cage topper that I already have
OR
-if you happen to have a full wire cage that would be suitable for my two babies, please let me know.

I will be at work today until around 6.30pm so please email me if you have anything available, as I will have email access until then (after work as well but would rather do it right after work in case I need to travel north, I live a little south of my work in Lynnwood.)

There is a kitten that keeps coming to my porch at night but will not allow me to get near it. It looks very small, not sure how old. Definitely less than 3 months.

***URGENT! Loving Foster and Adoptive Homes Urgently Needed for these Beautiful Death Row Dogs!***

These sweet lives are about to be lost due to over-crowding in a high-kill shelter. We have one last chance to bring them to safety! Can you help?

There are both large and small dogs, male and female, and many different breeds, such as a gorgeous Samoyd, a darling little Pug, some sweet Chihuahuas, a beautiful German Shepherd, the cutest little pomeranian mix boy, a sweet Shih Tzu, a fluffy sweet Border Collie, and more! Each dog is up to date on shots, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. Adopt fee to pay for our costs to spay/neuter, microchip, health certificate and transport them.

The dogs arrive on November 20. We must know by tomorrow--Wednesday, 11/11-- which dogs have waiting homes in order to pull them to safety. We are a small volunteer rescue effort-- six big-hearted folks who cannot stand to see healthy, sweet dogs die simply due to lack of space. Please help us save these sweet lives! If you cannot foster or adopt but would like to help, donations toward temporary boarding are also very welcome. Please tell a friend about these dogs and their dire situation. All are going to die if we cannot find foster or adoptive homes. Contact us for more information or to help volunteer to save these beauties!

I am interested. I have fostered and done a lot of work with bottle raising pups.
There is a lot of cost with that.. Feeding every two hours, they will need supplements, shots, spay/neuter, deworming, etc etc. I am however willing to take them on.
