The Bainbridge Chorale, (BC) of Bainbridge Island, Washington, is seeking a Music Director beginning with its Fall 2010 concert season.

BC is dedicated to expanding the musical experience and education of its members and audiences through awareness and appreciation of the choral arts. We strive to enlighten, enrich, and entertain our community as we share the joy of choral music from a variety of traditions, cultures, and eras.
BC is a community chorus of approximately 85 auditioned, volunteer members. Since 1971, BC has been serving the surrounding Kitsap County with an annual season of three diverse programs, including the principal choral masterworks. BC occasionally collaborates with other musical organizations, and frequently participates in a variety of fundraising and community outreach events. BC rehearses on Monday evenings. The Music Director reports to the Board of Trustees and provides the artistic leadership for BC. Building on BC’s reputation for excellence, the Music Director will establish standards of performance, producing creative and challenging concert programs, within budget guidelines. The Music Director will inspire, educate, and motivate BC's singers. He/she will audition BC singers, and recruit/employ/rehearse guest soloists and musicians. He/she will prepare BC singers for concerts at regularly scheduled weekly rehearsals, additional sectionals, and dress rehearsals, and conduct all BC concerts.
Qualified applicants will possess a comprehensive range of choral and instrumental conducting experience, with extensive knowledge of choral repertoire, both secular and sacred. He/she must exhibit high performance standards and an ability to communicate vocal production techniques to BC singers. Community outreach and interaction are expected. An advanced degree is preferred, and ACDA membership required. The position is part time, on a contract basis. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, with no benefits included.
