Position Summary
This important role will provide thought leadership, develop strategies, provide market research and create content around F5’s solution offerings.
SMMs will design solutions that include products and services to address key customer challenges. SMMs drive and deliver strategic marketing plans and collaborate with other teams to deliver on agreed revenue and release goals. SMMs work with a cross-functional, highly motivated global teams, including representatives from marketing, product management, engineering, professional services, and sales to develop and execute these plans. This role combines strategic and tactical responsibilities for the overall success of the solution through our wide variety of direct and channel sales, including systems integrators, solution providers, value-added resellers and distributors and global strategic partners. The SMMs bring the voice of the target customer into everything they do and evangelize solutions to the target market. This necessitates understanding both the user and buyer persona- who the potential users and buyers for our products are, how best to reach them, and what problems they face as well as articulating how F5 solutions solve these problems. Requires excellent marketing execution, superior writing, and business analysis skills with a proven track record of effectively promoting solutions.
The responsibility for this important position is to lead and execute solution marketing overall across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and develop segmentation, positioning and messaging for F5’s solutions.
- Develop the overall marketing plan, budget, campaign materials and work with global marketing teams on execution of plans
- Defining market research studies to gain knowledge about user attitudes and behavior and developing collateral that optimally positions the strengths of our products
- Create high quality collateral including: solution overviews, presentations, case studies, and more
- Develop website content to highlight solutions
- Lead external communication through public speaking at events/seminars and customer/partner email announcements
- Partner closely with sales teams and arm them with training, content, leads, sales tools
- Ensure strong competitive marketing including comparisons, positioning, and evidence
- Develop processes and ensure that systems are in place to track the success of the solutions and related programs
- Interface with key industry press and analyst
- Participate in tradeshow booth duty to assist in lead generation
- Simultaneously manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required.
- 5+ years experience in product marketing or solutions marketing
- 4+ years analyzing products, customers and market dynamics
- Previous experience working with the solution provider channel and selling through a two-tier distribution model strongly preferred
- Strong communication and project coordination skills, with an ability to work effectively with Global Marketing, Product Development, Sales and Business Development to lead and execute on a wide variety of product marketing initiatives.
- Passion for analyzing products, customers and market dynamics
- Superior writing skills with a proven ability to identify and translate technical benefits into compelling customer facing collateral.
- Previous experience in the high-tech industry and thorough understanding of enterprise and / or service provider software or hardware.
- Strong aptitude for determining the optimal way to position products in the market
- Understanding of networking technologies is a plus
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including public-speaking skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and execution skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Self-management skills and self-started attitude highly valued
