Vice President, Marketing



Responsibilities:



The Vice President of Marketing will report to the President of Classmates Media Corporation and will work closely with the other members of the Classmates.com executive team, as well as the UNTD executive team, and will be responsible for driving all US-based marketing efforts. They will have direct responsibility for marketing strategy and direct marketing tactics necessary for delivering against both short and long term revenues and profit objectives. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:



• Responsible for all direct marketing strategies, integrated marketing & merchandising plans, calendars, timelines, budgets, resources necessary to support the company’s objectives.

• Develop and manage high functioning staff; provide opportunity for growth through ownership of projects and visibility to upper management.

• Initiates and leverages outside suppliers, partners and potential sponsors for marketing and advertising.

• Works with creative team to develop appropriate sales, advertising, on-site advertising, banner advertising, offline, 3rd party advertising, co-branding and email promotion creative content consistent with marketing strategy and campaign objectives.



Experience:



• Demonstrated track record of providing thought leadership and clear, actionable plans to transform brands/products/services

• High levels of emotional intelligence – the ability to bring people together, to mobilize & inspire

• Demonstrated ability to drive accountability in others and demonstrate accountability to senior management & Board of Directors

• An enthusiast and champion of the brands that the person is responsible for nurturing

• Clear concise communicator who can cut through complex issues, synthesis an action plan and recruit buy-in and support from others whether peers, subordinates or senior management

• A quick study. Someone who is comfortable using data & intuition to form a work hypothesis – but is unafraid to course correct as more information and knowledge becomes available

• A team player who is self confident enough and capable enough that they emerge as the first among equals in high performance groups they have been part of

• A creative thinker and problem-solver with demonstrated experience in direct marketing, brand management, direct e-commerce, promotions, product development, merchandising and specialized marketing strategy.

• A proven track record of success and innovation in multi-channel marketing and customer relationship management, combined with the ability to identify and implement new channel opportunities.

• The ability to function in a complex, fast-paced, demanding and constantly changing consumer-driven environment; an entrepreneurial drive and passion for the business.

• Expertise in promoting products and services to a large, existing free membership base and converting this customer group to a subscription model of premium products and services.

• An understanding of and unwavering commitment to the unique expectations and requirements of Classmates’ current and prospective subscriber base. Ideal experience would include a strong background in the direct-marketing model.

• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; a detailed and sophisticated understanding of how key business drivers, industry and customer trends, and the competitive landscape impact the bottom-line.

• An innate understanding of and appreciation for Classmates’ unique mission, values, and impact on long-term relationships and society, in general.

• Strong cross-functional leadership skills, a team-oriented approach to customer relationship and marketing management, combined with the ability to bring these qualities to bear in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

• Identifying and prioritizing consumer needs based on consumer research, competitive analyses, and usage testing to create detailed product specifications.

• Working closely with Marketing to position products, promote them and maximize user impact and ROI.

• Working with Business development to develop partner strategies to increase the pace of innovation.

• Leading cross-functional efforts to achieve quantitative targets for usage, conversion, revenue and profit.



Qualifications:



• A qualified candidate will bring a minimum of 12+ years of marketing experience in a consumer, high-tech environment, preferably the Internet space. A quick study who clearly exhibits intellectual curiosity, integrity, tenacity, and a good sense of humor. Candidates must possess strong marketing skills, written and verbal communication skills, and business analysis and planning skills.

• Experience and proven track record of working well with cross-functional teams and executive management a must.

• BS/BA required. MBA preferred.
