The Manager, Product Marketing role will manage a team of Sr. Product Marketing Managers responsible for market analysis, development of our competitive environment, and product launch activities to increase revenue and maximize Varolii’s profitability. This position will drive the Product Marketing team to build new offerings and initiatives and ensure that products are packaged according to market and customer needs. They will deliver tools and documentation for internal resources as well prospects and existing customers. The Product Marketing team will also ensure that when new products are available they are launched and marketed effectively to new prospects as well as to the installed customer base.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Provide day-to-day management of a Sr. Product Marketing team and guide all output in support of product positioning efforts, including the creation of sales tools, sales presentations, training & collateral for new offerings.
•Go-to-Market Strategy: Help drive overall go-to-market strategy, planning and execution for the wholesale products in support of revenue growth objectives.
•Product Messaging/Positioning: Develop and implement high impact and differentiated product positioning and messaging.
•Business Cases: Assist product management team with business case development and strategies for new products, markets.
•Gather and analyze data, prioritize market trends and direction, for wholesale channel
•Product Launches: Drive product launch planning. Coordinate all launch activities and lead the cross-functional product launch team.
•Sales Tools: Coordinate the development of partner-ready sales tools such as white papers, presentations, product demos, etc.
•Training: Develop key sales and channel training materials covering industry trends, product value proposition, and competitive position.
•Competitive Analysis: Closely monitor marketplace for competitive information. Develop internal and external competitive analysis and selling-against guides.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
•Strong management skills as well as the ability to foster an environment that inspires and motivates the team.
•Ability to strike a balance between providing outstanding service, providing leadership within the Product Marketing team and partnering with peers, executives and the Varolii sales team.
•Management of product marketing overhead budgets by helping to build, track and develop annual budgets.
•Keep up to date on all regulatory issues including key legislations and industry standards.
•Drive team to develop and manage content of materials to be launched to market. Collaborate on marketing objectives and strategies; develop positioning and messaging, sales training and internal and external communications.
•Conduct market research on competitive offerings and market direction. Provide subject matter expertise, analysis and direction assessments as required.
•Support the sales efforts with product domain knowledge, sales strategy, and product/services roadmap details.
•Work with the sales organization on customer tactics that create new sustainable business.
•Work with Varolii Marketing to execute marketing campaigns across direct and indirect channels (advertising, conventions, catalogs, website, direct marketing initiatives and sales )
•Launch new enhancements and products to the field sales force
•Keep field sales force up to date on latest information about products, positioning for new market segments and competitive intelligence
•Work effectively with a broad set of internal stakeholders including marketing, corporate communications, product management, sales, operations, finance and software development to create the best product packaging and messaging.
•Work with sales team to develop specific product presentation tools for the field to ensure deep selling expertise (sales presentations, brochures, price lists, etc.)
•Work with pricing department to ensure accuracy and up-to-date pricing information while owning and driving pricing strategy
•Responsible for competitive market assessment and trends, customer/consumer segmentation and strategic/SWOT analysis
•Develop and execute pricing, mix and margin strategies. Analyze data and metrics to gain deep understanding of competitors as well as the market, customer and product segments.
•Ability to juggle multiple projects and to continually shift priorities given market changes
•Proven experience with marketing management skills, market research methodology and analytical tools for sales and marketing databases.
•Excellent presentation skills to influence both internal customers (senior management & cross functional teams) and external marketplace customers.
•The ability to develop and create new initiatives for the brand and assigned business.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education / Experience:
•5+ years proven management experience
•10+ years of software Marketing/Product Marketing/Product Management experience
•Seattle Based Position
