Blue Nile is seeking a QA Engineer to join our QA and Release team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality, a strong desire to excel, and dedication to providing a flawless experience for our customers. At Blue Nile, a QA Engineer has direct ownership of key company initiatives that range across a wide breath of technologies and business groups. This position will allow you to collaborate with small teams and contribute to a wide variety of projects that are directly connected with an active, growing business.

The QA and Release team is a small and close-knit, allowing members to share the opportunity to work on a wide breadth of new technologies and systems. We work directly with developers, technology leaders and business users. This is a great opportunity for you to bring your quality assurance skills to a place where you’ll learn and contribute at many levels on a weekly basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work directly with software engineers, site developers, system engineers, project managers and management to ensure the highest quality software and products for our customers
• Participate in design discussions for both new software/products and on-going enhancements as well as coordinate appropriate discussions for testing and optimization
• Perform functionality, compatibility, UI, and benchmark testing on Blue Nile’s back office and e-commerce systems to identify bugs, drive solutions, and optimize customer experience own, define, and measure a variety of site performance and health metrics
• Create and execute automated tools and scripts for testing
• Maintain and create testing documents and support detailed test plans
• Assist developers and system engineers to reproduce and drive resolution of complicated problems
• Collect, analyze and report quality metrics to management

Qualifications:

• At least four years of development and/or quality assurance experience
• Experience with creation and support of automated test suites
• Requires understanding of technical systems and a working knowledge of relational databases (SQL and/or Oracle), application servers, and Java
• Deep understanding of web technologies (server and browser, IE/Firefox/Safari, JSP, JavaScript and other scripting languages)
• Web application testing using Selenium, WATIR, Windmill or other similar functional framework
• Experience running regression tests on revisions of software releases following an SDLC
• Experience and understanding of stress testing/load testing methodologies and best practices of web applications a plus
• Experience and understanding of code/function level testing is required
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations throughout the organization.
• Must possess a self-starter, self-motivated mindset
