Blue Nile is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This position presents an outstanding opportunity to work with scalable web systems as well as business process optimization in a successful and growing company. The team works closely with a variety of technical and non-technical business groups within the organization, providing analysis, support, and software development. The successful candidate will be able to understand and analyze complex problems in order to implement robust and maintainable solutions. Excellent communication, leadership and problem solving skills are required for success in this position. A strong sense of ownership is also critical. Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop features and functionality for the Blue Nile public websites as well as other internal and external applications
• Gain a deep understanding of the business and make key recommendations based on that understanding
• Provide technical leadership for design and implementation of new features and software system enhancements
• Interact directly with internal business areas such as marketing and merchandising to define and clarify specifications, analyze business processes, and define solutions
• Develop primarily using Java, Oracle PL/SQL, and Groovy, with some legacy classic ASP. Experience in these areas is beneficial but not required.
• Lead a project team on significant software projects
• Perform code and test plan reviews; take responsibility for the quality of released software
• Mentor other developers

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Five or more years of professional software development
• Strong analysis, design, development and leadership skills
• Strong communication skills; must be able to effectively manage a project team
• Proven track record of delivering high quality features to production
• A desire to be a key part of a dynamic, aggressive, and successful business
