Amazon Video on Demand has the largest digital On-Demand catalog. This is made possible through an automated, highly scalable and performant Content Ingestion pipeline. This system encodes hundreds of hours of High-Definition video content every day. We are now looking to develop the next-generation of our content ingestion pipeline.
We are looking for a senior Software Development Engineer who can lead the development of such an ingestion system. You would be involved in building a service that will meet high standards of customer experience, quality, performance and scale. You will be working on a rich media content ingestion/encoding pipeline that takes advantage of the Amazon cloud infrastructure(EC2,S3), and designing/implement a seamless web experience to discover, upload, transcode, and render different content types.
Successful candidates for this position will have a strong background in C++/Java, Perl, SQL, REST. Experience working with CGI, Mason, WebServices, XML, Apache services is desired. Linux system development experience is a plus. Equally important to these specific skills are a candidate's ability to multi-task, quickly adapt to new development environments and changing business requirements, learn new systems, create reliable/maintainable code, and find creative and scalable solutions to difficult problems. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both written and orally is a key competency as is demonstrable skill as a self-starter. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering world-class, digital media consumption experiences to our customers. A BS in computer science or equivalent area is required; an MS is preferred.
