This is a PAID internship position for a Software Engineer. The person must have completed at least 2 years of a Computer Science degree (no other degrees allowed), and must attend a university within a 30 minute drive of downtown Seattle.
Are you an engineer looking to work for an internet startup company working on either moderate or challenging problems?
REQUIRED:
- Must have completed at least 2 years towards BA or BS Computer Science degree (no other degrees allowed)
- Strong background across Computer Science: Designing algorithms, etc.
- Strong Programming Skills: We look for people that want to code on high quality products
- Self motivated and driven
- Able to work at least 20 hours per week during school year, and full time during summer
- Able to start work within the next 70 days and work during school
- Attend a school in Washington state within a 30 minute drive of downtown Seattle
- Able to work in our downtown Seattle offices when you are working
- Able to be accountable for delivering real product results
- Willing to learn Ruby and other advanced technologies in a self-directed way
NICE TO HAVE:
- Massively parallelized computing (MapReduce, Hadoop, Sharding Databases, etc.)
- Ruby & Merb experience
- Experience on Amazon EC2 cloud computing
- Startup experience
- Experience developing product UI
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science or related field
A few of the interns who have the drive and ability can work on advanced algorithms:
- Machine Learning / Data Mining: Support Vector Machines, Regression Analysis, Graph Theory.
- Internet Crawling/Indexing: Using Hadoop to crawl the internet building large sets of data for data mining
- Server Clustering Cloud: Algorithms that scale across Amazon EC2 servers, such as MapReduce.
