As a Behavior Specialist you will work one on one with youth in their schools and homes.
Behavior Specialists work with youth who are both developmentally delayed (DD) and those
that have mental/behavioral disorders (at-risk). Your duties include but are not limited to,
managing the behavior of the child, implementing the behavior/education plans established by
the child’s mental health agency or teacher and recording data regarding the child’s performance
both academically and behaviorally on a daily basis. Typical disorders of our clients are autism,
attention deficit (hyperactive) disorder, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), bipolar disorder and
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The goals of the Behavior Specialist:
1)To develop a strong, trusting relationship with the youth and family.
2)To implement and assist in the design of a behavior plan that is targeted at reducing problematic
behaviors and increasing desired ones.
3)Creating and maintaining communication with the family and other staff regarding the child’s daily
behaviors/routines.
4)Ensuring the safety of the child at all times and managing disruptive behavior.
Youth Behavior Specialist positions are contract positions during the school year. Full-time employees
must commit to working with the youth for the duration of the school year, part-time positions are available
as well. Employment during the summer will be part-time and paid on an hourly basis regardless of the type
of employment during the school year.
Pay Structure:
Full-time positions are on salary, starting @ 24k/yr, and are eligible for benefits after 90 days of employment.
These include 100% employer paid medical/dental/prescription and three weeks paid time off per year.
Part-time positions begin at $13/hr and include flexible scheduling. Part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.
Both part-time and full-time employees are reimbursed at the IRS approved rate per mile traveled.
Employee must have reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
Credentials required within 90 days of hire:
1)Valid Child CPR/First Aid
2)Manual Restraint and De-escalation Training (provided)
3)Proof of Auto Insurance
4)Copy of Driving Abstract (Driving Record)
5)Criminal Background Check
