We are currently seeking a Center Director for one of our school programs in the Seattle area.
Purpose:
To create, deliver, and ensure a safe, caring, and academically and socially enriching program for preschool and/or school-age children by directing and overseeing the administrative (including building, managing, leading, and nurturing a dynamic, cooperative teaching team), educational, and regulatory compliance functions of a High Quality program.
This is a hands on position which requires the ability to multitask, coordinate, and track multiple deadlines, tasks, and regulations. As with any supervisory position, staff management can be challenging especially when contact with the morning staff is limited. Program Supervisors are expected to step in to relieve staff for breaks and lunches, as well as to model teaching techniques to their staff. When enrollment is low, the Program Supervisor is expected to fulfill the role of teacher until enrollment can sustain an additional staff member.
Qualifications:
Required:
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Must provide proof of a negative TB test administered within one year from hire date
Current First Aid and CPR Certifications
A current Child Development Associate certificate (CDA); or
At least 45 college quarter credit hours in early childhood education; or
A minimum of 30 college quarter credit hours and a minimum of 150 DSHS approved clock hours hours (ten clock hours equals one college credit) in early childhood education or child development.
Evidence of completion of a minimum of 20 hours of Basic STARS training as well as completion of the annual 10 hours of STARS training requirement
A commitment to continued professional development including administrative/supervisory/management classes and trainings as required by various regulatory agencies
At least three years experience working with school age/preschool children
At least one year of management/supervisory experience including:
o Record maintenance
o Financial management
o Staff/child/parent communication
At least one years experience of demonstrated knowledge and competence including:
o Behavior management skills
o Activity planning/coordinating
Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information appropriately;
Strong communication skills; proven ability to communicate with children and adults in a positive and proactive manner;
Ability to create versatile and varied age appropriate activities for children of different ages and developmental stages;
A demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
Desired:
BA in education or related field;
Experience working in a not-profit organization.
