Places available to learn Spanish in the lovely colonial town of Copan Ruinas, Honduras this summer or anytime year-round.
Copan is a quaint, safe, up-beat and very friendly mountainous colonial town within walking distance of the famous Mayan ruins.
While there are literally hundreds of language schools in Central America, this is a unique opportunity to help support a local family in the heart of Copan town while receiving excellent private language lessons.
More details and photos can be found on: http://www.spanishincopan.org
Nelly de Espinoza teaches private one-on-one Spanish lessons plus offers homestay accommodation in her home for $170 per week.
This includes 20 hours of lessons, a private room in the family house along with all meals and laundry for a full week.
Prices have been set by Nelly herself, based on what she feels is fair to students and what her living expenses are. By teaching Spanish from her home, she can take care of her family while also contributing financially to the education of three of her children.
Classes are taught in the small open-air 'classroom' on the second floor veranda. From here there are nice views of the surrounding hills and pleasant breezes year round.
As an experienced Spanish teacher Nelly has a genuine passion for helping foreign speakers communicate in Spanish while learning in a fun, supportive and relaxed environment. Being both professional and flexible, she works very hard to tailor lessons to people's different learning styles, abilities and interests.
The Espinoza family home is located right in the center of Copan town just around the corner from the Central Plaza. All rooms have private entrances and students can come and go as they please.
Meals are served 'al fresco' in the covered courtyard, which is also the hub of family activity. All restaurants, bars, internet cafes, food stalls, shops, etc. are literally just out the front gates.
Along with the ruins, other activities include horseback riding, natural hot springs, waterfalls, a water park, nature hikes, visits to indigenous Mayan villages and coffee fincas, volunteer opportunities, a tropical bird sanctuary, a butterfly farm, festivals, parades, tuk tuk rides, diverse restaurants and more.
Please get in touch ... we would love to tell you more about it.
