Art Print--Swanson River Canoe Trail, Alaska - $25
It was the first time taking a canoe trip, and I wasn’t prepared for how peaceful it was to be! Not a sound except for the wind rustling the leaves and the loons calling. My husband and I were camping for a few days with a buddy on some of the tiny islands dotting the lake. We took our pet ferret with us and he was captivated by the strange loons swimming by our boat.
In some areas you must portage the canoe to the next lake and this particular opening was stunning. Was it the light on the water or the shapes the landscape created? I knew I had to paint it, but it is hard to do justice to what nature does naturally.
Born and raised in Alaska (and still lives there!) Diane Harrison has developed a love for nature in its many forms, and would spend hours drawing and painting the beauty just outside her door. Although mostly self-taught, Diane has earned an arts degree from the University of Alaska and continues to study outside of school. She works mostly in oil and watercolor but also enjoys pencil. “What I love most about nature is that everyone is equal in it, no matter what his background is, his income, or his status in life.”
