POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities range from journal entry preparation to analysis of accounts and financial reporting of Cruise West’s operations. The position requires in-depth knowledge of accrual basis accounting, proficiency in computerized accounting systems and strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an efficient financial reporting process.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:
· Prepare and input recurring and non-recurring journal entries. Perform monthly reconciliations with supporting schedules, and analysis of balance sheet accounts.
· Review monthly financial results. Investigate and provide explanations for variances between actual and budget.
· Work closely with other departments to ensure operating costs are accurately posted.
· Maintenance of reporting systems.
· Administer the Company’s annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process.
· Act as liaison with other departments for accounting, reporting and analysis.
· Assist Controller in preparation of various financial and statistical reports to support corporate decision-making process.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3-5 years accounting experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
· Must possess strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
· Must have a strong working knowledge of Excel, Accounting software and a general familiarity with PC computers and Microsoft office software.
· Quantitative skills require the ability to perform analyses involving ratios and percentages.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to provide verbal and written explanations on technical matters to people with little experience or knowledge of accounting.
· Interpersonal skills require the ability to regularly deal with a variety of staff members and personalities.
· Must have strong customer service and problem solving skills.
· Overall knowledge and skills requires a working knowledge of general ledger accounting and the ability to manage multiple tasks, and learn and follow established company accounting procedures.
· Responsible for working independently, with general supervision.
· Responsible for choosing among a variety of well-established procedures, practices and processes.
