Altrec.com, a leading e-commerce retailer of performance outdoor gear and Greatoutoors.com, an outdoor focused content site, is seeking an experienced Accounting Director with a Retail / Ecommerce background to join our growing team. Key Accountabilities:
• Providing regular reporting and analysis to management.
• Responsibility for AP, AR and related general ledger reconciliations.
• Interface with other managers and staff in the company to assist in the identification and resolution of accounting and finance related business issues.
• Assist the Director of Finance in performing financial analysis (P&L, B/Sheet, Cash Flow) and recommending corrective actions to improve profitability and cash flow.
• Work across all functions within the company to build understanding of the financial drivers and create financial systems and infrastructure to grow the business.
Specific Responsibilities
• This person will be expected to take ownership, identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls, and drive positive change in the organization.
• Ensure all inventory activities are monitored and reported timely and accurately.
• Perform monthly and quarterly management accounting under GAAP.
• Support and assist Altrec.com’s business teams with the set-up of financial systems to ensure appropriate business support and controllership.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Understand the inventory control cycle from the purchase order creation to sale of merchandise and provide related accounting support. This includes supporting the financial, inventory, replenishment and merchandise planning and forecasting processes.
• Maintain accurate perpetual inventory records within the current ERP system & sub-systems. This includes reconciliation of all inventory accounts to the general ledger, including analysis and explanation of monthly variances
• Assist the Distribution Center in receiving compliance with all policies related to inventory transactions, including receiving, returns, transfers, stock adjustments, and RTV’s.
• Assist the Merchandising team by reviewing and analyzing credit term agreements with vendors.
• Assist in preparation of monthly account reconciliations including trend and variance analysis and journal entries.
• Work with Director of Finance to determine appropriate revenue recognition, capitalization, and expense methods for all business unit contracts.
• Month-end close process, financial reporting, preparation of internal monthly reports, balance sheet analysis.
• Coordinate quarter end and year end audits with external auditors.
• Work on special projects and various ad hoc tasks.
General Requirements:
• Significant accounting & inventory control experience in an ecommerce or retail environment.
• CPA preferred.
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
• Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Experience in GAAP Accounting. Public accounting experience also preferred.
• History of building new processes, drafting policies and implementing successful change
• This is a hands-on position and will require someone who can accomplish their work in a dynamic and fluid work environment. The successful individual will also be willing to work at many different levels ranging from administrative duties to executing on strategic initiatives.
• Strong balance sheet and P/L skills, revenue recognition and cash management experience.
