Star Protection Agency is currently hiring for Seasonal Traffic Control/ Security Officers from assignments lasting approximately 11/24 until 12/31 at locations in Seattle, Bellevue and Northgate:<br>

Salary: $13.00 an hour, shifts vary depending on site location <br>
<br>
Responsibilities (may include all or a few of the following duties):<br>
Interacting with a variety of persons including: clients, visitors, public safety officials, employees and the general public<br>
Regulating and directing traffic, as necessary						<br>
Escorting employees to their vehicles, as requested			<br>
Enforcing client and company policies and procedures 			<br>
Badge Compliance										<br>
Property Movement Compliance								<br>
Responding, compiling and reporting all information in regards to theft, alarms, accidents and other incidents that may occur				<br>
Observing and reporting all unusual activity				<br>
Notifying, assisting and directing emergency personnel as necessary<br>

Operating telephone and radio equipment				<br>
Monitoring Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), alarm panels for emergency and entrance into buildings							<br>

Minimum Skill Requirements:<br>
Outstanding 5 star customer service skills<br>
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing<br>
Ability to handle emergency situations under pressure<br>
Professional appearance and demeanor at all times<br>
Ability to work independently while also being a team player<br>
Ability to perform radio and cellular telephone etiquette<br>
Basic to intermediate computer skills (at some sites)<br>
Maintain client and company confidentiality at all times<br>

Physical Requirements:<br>
Ability to stand, walk, run, climb stairs for up to 100% of shift for approximately 8 hours<br>
Be able to tolerate exposure to outside elements for approximately 8 hours<br>
Ability to repetitively open heavy glass and metal doors<br>
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds <br>
Must have sufficient hearing ability to respond to verbal speech, alarm signals, radio and telephone communications<br>
Must have sufficient visual acuity to read and understand post orders, computer screens, check identification (such as company badge or drivers license) and to distinguish the faces of employees, contractors and visitors<br>
Must have a command of the English language that it is easily understood<br>

JOB SUMMARY<br>
The Port of Tacoma’s Security Department is recruiting for four (4) Terminal Security Officer (TSO) Supervisors. These positions are responsible for providing direct supervision over Terminal Security Officers serving on a designated shift in support of contract security services for specific Port of Tacoma terminals.  A TSO Supervisor will also act as a proprietary security officer who is charged with ensuring the safety, security, and protection of terminal personnel, stakeholders and all terminal properties in accordance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and the Terminal Facility Security Plan.   These are limited duration positions expected to last up to the life of the contract which ends on October 31, 2013.  Continuation of these positions is dependent upon renewal of the contract.<br>
<br>
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:<br>
•These positions are assigned to a shift to represent the Chief of Security, Port of Tacoma Patrol and the Director, Port Security, as the on duty shift supervisor at terminal facilities which have contracted with the Port of Tacoma.  The supervisors will also execute other tactical and administrative duties related to the security of the terminal.<br>
•Assists the Chief of Security in the training, evaluation and performance management of TSO personnel and the development of operational schedules and shift assignments.<br>
•Enforces all applicable port security related federal, state and local laws, regulations and FSP. This duty is performed via the supervision of on-duty TSO personnel.  Ensures the safety and security of all employees, labor and other waterfront stakeholders at an assigned terminal area (including cargo and vessel operations).<br>
•Supervise the execution of security duties by TSOs performing terminal security duties encompassing the physical security of all terminal areas, waterways and adjacent port shoreline security, operational security, information security (protecting sensitive security information), supply-chain security, and others.  Monitor and control access into and out of terminal facilities at assigned hours.<br>
•Dedicated exclusively to 24-hour port safety and security activities, being responsible for patrol and surveillance of terminal operations and facilities.<br>
•May, on occasion, execute uniformed foot and vehicle terminal security and patrol duties, manage the terminal entry control points, execute Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C3I) duties for the terminal and performs other special detail and patrol duties as assigned.  <br>
•Oversees public safety as well as environmental and maritime related safety regulations.  Supports the maintenance of the free flow of commerce and produces a safe and secure environment that promotes uninterrupted terminal operations.<br>
•Takes proper action at the scene of transportation security and criminal incidents, to include executing requests for assistance, evacuation of personnel, administration of first aid, gathering of evidence, identifying witnesses, drafting incident reports, participating in Incident Command structure and others.  May conduct initial traffic, accident and other terminal security related investigations, including cargo loss and general theft.<br>
•Initiates and submits daily supervisory reports covering terminal security and shift activities/assignments.<br>
•Maintains communications with other terminal, Tacoma Patrol Control Center and other Port of Tacoma organizations.<br>
•Assists in other terminal security related activities as needed; perform other related duties as assigned.<br>

EDUCATION:<br>
Minimum educational requirement is a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Transportation, Business or applicable discipline.  Prior successful completion of training as a police officer recruit, or graduation from an accredited police academy, federal law enforcement school including military or equivalent is required.<br>
<br>
EXPERIENCE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS  <br>
Previous job experience required should include a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a security or police officer, civilian or military, to include supervisory and management experience.  Experience working in a union environment is desirable.  A successful completion of a background investigation is required upon initial employment (which will include a fingerprint check by local and federal authorities, behavioral characteristics examination and assessment, and possess a driver’s license).  Also, this position must have the ability to meet the physical and medical standards required for this position.<br>

Loss Prevention experience is MANDATORY; MUST have own vehicle; State of WA Security Guard licensed preferred.  Work shifts are Fri., Sat., and Sun. with 2 floating shifts on other days of the week. 6.	Prepares, files and submits various reports as required.<br>

9. PURPOSE: 	This position is under the direct supervision of the Building Coordinator and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors	 .<br>

1. Performing security patrols in building, grounds and parking area, responding to crisis situation working closely with Crisis Response Team (CRT) enforcing agency  badge procedures, lock doors and windows; report needed repairs and safety hazards to proper authority, protecting property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, illegal entry, unauthorized use of building, fire and accidents. Have contacts with local police, fire and emergency agencies in case of crisis situations. <br>

3. Provide any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors with the department's procedures<br>

2.   Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situation.<br>

Patrol Officer I ($10 - $13 D.O.E)<br>

The Patrol Officer is the backbone of our company. The majority of our field operations division revolves around patrolling client’s property in vehicles. This position is demanding and will be full of training – both in the field and in the classroom. The Patrol Officer I position is responsible for patrolling client’s properties in marked and unmarked security vehicles. Respond to calls for service and act as a deterrent to crime as well as detect crime in progress. The patrol officer is responsible for proactively enforcing rules and regulations on properties and will need to be capable of communicating with the public regularly. Will also need to possess the desire to help the community through selfless service. Will need to be able to work with a team under direct supervision of a patrol supervisor to help solve problems and make the community you patrol a safer place. You will also need to be able to work by yourself without supervision for an extended period of time and possess a “take charge” attitude when doing so. Will need to be able to work SAFELY and PROFESSIONALLY in an ALL ARMED environment. Will need to be able to learn codes, memorize sequence of numbers and communicate effectively with portable and mobile radio communications equipment, Nextel phones and utilize verbal and written communication skills. Time management will be key as well as the ability to quickly type or write out reports. Will need to be able to exercise above average driving skills and be able to operate company motor vehicles defensively in a safe and effective manner. The Patrol Officer I position is a probationary training position. You are guaranteed promotion to Patrol Officer II upon completion of the three month probationary period. Promotion includes a pay raise, benefits options and extensive company equipment investment. The company provides all uniforms and equipment including duty gear, sidearm and bodyarmor.<br>

Patrol Officer I Minimum Qualifications: <br>
- Be at least 21 years of age <br>
- Possess a certificate of high school completion or equivalent (GED)<br>
-Possess a current Washington armed guard card or possess the ability to obtain an armed guard card within 90 days from date of hire at applicants expense<br>
- At least one year of verifiable prior security, military, police or experience related to the security industry.<br>
- Be able to provide proof of at least three years driving experience with a drivers abstract from DOL (not more than 10 days old) <br>
- No more than two minor traffic violations in the last three years <br>
- No at fault accidents within the last three years <br>
- Be free from use of narcotics or controlled substances <br>
- Be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and be on 24- hour call <br>
- Be willing to exit vehicle and confront potentially aggressive subjects <br>
- Be willing to conduct long and sometimes tiring foot patrols in inclement weather, rough terrain and sometimes hazardous conditions <br>
- Be capable of entering and exiting a patrol vehicle, bending, jumping and lifting for prolonged or extended periods of time <br>
- Be able to spell accurately using proper grammar and write utilizing a computer or by hand incident reports and daily logs that can be extensive in nature. <br>
