To fall back on the President's veto is a lame excuse. Not an excuse at all, given the power of the mandate to end the war after the Democrats took control of Congress. They let their moment pass by. Your statement that, "The presidential veto power and him flat out saying that he is going to use it stops congress from working," is utter BS. Completely untrue.

Then, when he accused the Democrats of not supporting the troops, the Democrats cowered. They tucked their tails and let it sit there as if it were true. Apparently it is true, because instead of accusing the President of over-reaching and that he is the one who doesn't support the troops, and making a nasty fight to achieve their mandate, and forcing him to veto, they passed a war appropriations bill that made everyone happy at the expense of the taxpayer's treasury and the US Dollar. The notions that the Democrats are the opposing side to the Bush Administration are not borne out by the actions of the Democrats. They supported the President in the only vote that really mattered, then drummed up a bunch of non-binding resolutions so they could say they "voted against the war, and supported the troops." No more than theatre for the masses, while policy is implemented in spite of them.

The Democrats in general, and Pelosi and Reid in particular, are complicit. Your reasons that they are not don't pass muster.
