The goal here is to rehearse a handful of times and then get out there and play. Pursuit is to play once or twice a month, better clubs, or good private functions (in the Pierce or Thurston County areas). Candidates must be capable on their instrument(s) or vocals and be reliable. Also, candidates must have reliable and gig worthy gear! We are loud and proud...but key to this project is fun (and respect for each other)! Rehearsals will be either Saturday or Sunday mid-day. If everyone's doing their homework, we should have four sets down in a month or so and then get playing (i.e., if we need to rehearse ad nauseum, something's wrong!).

Absolutely no drugs. Light drinking okay, so long as it does not interfere with your playing!

Opening is immediate. If you shoot me a phone number (or if you prefer email) all communications will receive a response within 24 hours! Again, we say "semi-pro" as a guage to our ability, but this will NOT be a project on which livings are made! This is fun and entertaining. I seek a bass guitarist and/or upright bassist who is interested in being part of a professional music ensemble and committed to continuing to give our band a reputation as one of the hottest and most talented country dance/show bands in the South Puget Sound. The calendar is full of gigs, good pay - and averages about $7-10,000 annually. I am on the cusp of releasing my 4th album and want to restructure the band - I am unable to do my originals and many of the covers justice in the current band configuration.

Our band performs at a variety of venues ranging from clubs, casinos, fairs, festivals, etc - mostly covers (1940-present), and about 1 set of originals. I have been holding down the bass responsibilities for the past year (I am a lead guitarist and fiddle player by trade) - I have auditioned and worked with many bassists. I am not looking for someone who has a bunch of flare and over plays to impress (I am not interested in previous experiences. . .just want a reliable musician), I am looking for someone who knows how to accompany a solid country vocalist, uses dynamics, and can play music by ear or chart and not be offended by direction from a bandleader. It is about making good country music that kicks. Needless to say, I did not like how much of a pain that poster was who kept posting, but I have to say, he/she was sort of correct. The band BYC was okay at best, but it certainly wasn't "kick ass." I've seen better and I've seen worse.

I guess the dude/dudette who was annoying was right on at least one issue: Don't say you're "kick ass" if you can't deliver! However, that's no excuse by the poster to be a dick about it!

Next time I will pass.
