I have 20 plus years experience teaching electric, acoustic, and classical guitar. All styles, ages, levels - beginning intermediate and advanced. Studied under Fred Bennedette at SDSU, Miles Moyner. Grossmont and Cuyamaca College - Teaching Degree in Music. 20 years performing experience. 1) Did World Tour to Japan. 2) USO Tour for US Military. 3) Perform Regularly, Locally, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Palm Dessert, Laughland, Long Beach, Newport Beach, Vejas, Barona, Hard Rock Cafe, Qualcomm Stadium, just to name a few. I am a very thorough teacher. I teach in a step by step procedure, that is simple and easy to understand. Through my method of teaching you gain a level of understanding guitar that will undoubtedly set you apart of the rest. My student have dramatically increased their skills, grades in thier music classes, and performance skills. I love teaching guitar. I am very passionate about it, and extremely good at it as well as teaching it to others. I don't teach Guitar for the money, I do it because I enjoy doing it. It’s fun for me, not work. My rate is $35/hr. Please call me to set up a time for the initial consultation.

Consider this for a moment: In all your schooling, did anyone ever teach you how to study something?
Today, people are graduating school unable to read or write at a level adequate to hold a job or deal with life. It is a huge problem. It is not that subjects cannot be learned; what isn't taught is how to learn. It is the missing step in all education.
Discover the laws on which learning is based and develop workable methods for anyone to apply.
This is called Study Technology.
This technology provides an understanding of the basics of learning and supplies exact ways to overcome all the pitfalls one can encounter during study.
Study Technology is not speed-reading or memory tricks. These have not been proven to raise one's ability to comprehend what was studied or to raise literacy. Study Technology shows how one studies in order to comprehend a subject so one can apply it.

Find out the fundamentals which you can use to study more effectively.
With this technology, any subject can be learned by ANYONE.

If you are interested then we'd love to schedule an appointment with you.

If you are having trouble with PHYSICS or CHEMISTRY, I can help you to increase your understanding of the material, increase your enjoyment of the subject, lower your study time, and raise your grade.

I have taught physics and chemistry for over a decade. I began teaching for five years as a Massachusetts certified science teacher and I had outstanding results with my students. I feel that my empathy, patience, and love of teaching were largely responsible for my students’ success. For the last 5 years, I have been providing the same exceptional teaching privately as a physics and chemistry tutor. My private students have enjoyed top-of-their-class grades, enhanced math and science skills, and sharpened scientific study skills that will follow them in future courses.

My tutoring is highly structured, systematic, and strategic. I realize that every student is unique and has different abilities that impact their learning and I tailor my strategy and delivery to the individual needs of each student. I am very comfortable working with students who may have learning disabilities or are struggling with the material, and I am also very comfortable working with advanced students wishing to earn the highest possible grade.

I will look forward to talking with you. Please email me and we can set up a complimentary consultation to further discuss your needs.

Having trouble with fractions and negative numbers? Stuck on balancing chemical equations or forces in physics? Confused by proofs in geometry or trigonometric identities? Evergreen Education can help!

In math, many students are simply lacking familiarity with basic concepts, because they are often neglected in modern curriculums. By returning to these building blocks we can help students master new information in class. In science, we encourage students to fully understand new ideas with analogies to situations they already understand.

Evergreen Education is a group of tutors who have teamed together to offer students the best of both worlds: the flexibility and personal rapport of a private tutor and the diverse range of subjects, for all ages and education levels, offered by tutoring firms. We are all professional educators who have had prior experience in public and private schools, in working as tutors for large companies, or as the primary educator for homeschooling families. And, of course, we all have many years experience in private, one-on-one tutoring.

On the Eastside we have math tutors for all levels from elementary through advanced calculus, and biology, chemistry and earth science tutors. In Seattle we have math tutors for all students up through pre-calculus, and physics, chemistry, earth science and biology tutors. Our tutors have experience with preparation for SAT, ACT, GRE, MSAT and ISEE tests. Our tutors include alumni from the University of Washington, and the University of Cambridge, England. Many are retired or current school teachers: one of our math tutors has been teaching for over 40 years! We are familiar with all the local math curriculums and most of the science curriculums.

We also offer tutoring in all levels of English and language arts, Spanish, French, Latin and ESL. We encourage students to improve their study and organizational skills, and can prepare them for SAT, ACT, ISEE, GRE and many other tests. We have tutors in north and south Seattle, as well as in Redmond, Bellevue, Sammamish and Issaquah. Our tutors typically charge $45 per hour, although some tutors may offer a discount for multiple hours per week, or for groups of two or more students. Please contact Emma Garside at (425) 443-3274 or emma@evergreened.org for more information. Or simply search for our other subject-specific Craigslist ads.
TESTIMONIALS

"I hired a tutor through Adam Wes Academics to perform a nearly impossible task: to teach math to my son, then in college, who had not completed a math class since the seventh grade due to severe illness. Starting in August, our tutor had to bring my son to a point where he could test into his grade level (then a sophomore in college) which would allow him to take and succeed in the required math classes to qualify for transfer to a major four-year university in California: all in 6 months. My son did test well enough to take both Pre-Calculus and Statistics in the Spring semester and I am proud to say that with continued help from our tutor he earned a B and an A in those classes. I cannot recommend Adam Wes Academics highly enough."

"Our Adam Wes Academics tutor was phenomenal. He is one of the few people who has the natural gift of teaching. He is intelligent, clear, and engaging. He not only inspires me to learn, but he makes each session enjoyable and exciting. If asked, I would strongly suggest that he pursue a career in education. But what is most impressive, is that my tutor took me from a person who had not opened a math book in almost eight years to someone who was so successful on the placement exam that I have placed into the highest math level offered. I have not only reached my goals, I have surpassed them. And this is all thanks to Adam Wes Academics."

"My Adam Wes Academics tutor was a truly excellent tutor. His eager and charismatic personality always kept me engaged even if the material was boring or difficult. He made sure I knew how to do a problem in multiple ways, including how to check my work on a calculator which proved to be incredibly useful. During the final 6 weeks of school, my grade raised from a C+ to an A- in calculus which would have never been possible without his help. He is easily the best tutor I have ever had, and because of him I actually started enjoying math class."

"We are so lucky to have found Adam Wes Academics. With our tutor's committed, creative and engaging personality, Mitchell's grades raised from a D to a B+ in physics and from a C to an A in pre-calculus in just six weeks. He was truly a great tutor for my son."

"I can't even begin to describe how amazing Adam Wes Academics is. My tutor was such a blessing in my life. I had taken college algebra twice in school and was never able to make a passing grade. On my third try, I decided to get a tutor. I went through three private tutors before finding Adam Wes Academics. I wasted hundreds of dollars on tutors who didn't have a clue what they were doing! Feeling hopeless, I decided to give it one last try. It was then that I found Adam Wes Academics. In the end, my tutor was able to take me from an F to a C+ in just two weeks. His ability to explain, what seemed to me like a foreign language, was incredible! He was able to recognize both my weaknesses and my strengths. He never allowed me to feel stupid; instead he encouraged me throughout the entire process. His easy-going personality made the whole process seem like I was meeting with an old friend, not a tutor. Words can't explain the gratitude I feel for him. Adam Wes Academics is amazing!"

"My Adam Wes Academics tutor was an excellent tutor! By continually analyzing my understanding, he developed a method to best teach me. Every session he inspired me to learn more and kept me excited about the whole process. He also has an unending supply of math tricks; they are so helpful. I don't know what I would do without him."

"I cannot emphasize enough how exceptional Adam Wes Academics is. I am in my junior year of college and have dreaded math my entire educational career. I have been working with my Adam Wes Academics tutor for four months in preparation to take the math course required for college graduation. When I began working with him I literally was relearning fractions and basic algebra. I was planning to test into college algebra, the lowest level course to fulfill the requirement I need for my degree, but after my wonderful experience with my tutor I will be testing into calculus! He has a remarkable style that makes even the most difficult of problems simple and fun to understand. His enthusiasm and natural gift for teaching has turned me from an easily frustrated, math-loathing student into one who truly enjoys and looks forward to progressing in mathematics. Trust me, you will be doing yourself a huge favor by choosing to work with Adam Wes Academics. Your brain and patience will thank you."

Dear Adam Wes Academics Tutor,

Aidan received his AP test results yesterday and scored a [perfect] 5! We are so delighted with his performance and the savvy way you worked with him this past school year. We found your personable style, consistent encouragement and strategic thinking to be a tremendous asset in building Aidan's skills, confidence and ultimately his abilities in Calculus. Working in the house on our schedule was invaluable for our busy lives too. The whole family would highly recommend you as a tutor to anyone who needed help in math. Aidan has a natural gift in this arena but is often scattered and unwilling to do his work. We saw a real shift in his approach, attitude and performance; and so appreciated the firm but friendly way you interacted with him. It's not easy to work with teens and you have a real knack! Richard and I thank you as does Aidan - know that you helped our son in a big way and helped launch him into a deeper exploration of math. We will keep you posted on his progress at Evergreen.

Warm regards
Kathleen (Mother of Venice H.S. AP Calculus Student)

"Our tutor from Adam Wes Academics is truly a miracle worker. My daughter is a sophomore in a private school with a very rigorous curriculum. She has always struggled in math and had anxiety every time she had a test. After the first quarter this year I received a letter from her teacher that she was failing math. I was very fortunate to find Adam Wes Academics and after speaking with a representative on the phone I could tell they had a real concern for teaching students such as my daughter. They emphasized a passion for tutoring math and an outlook that learning and tutoring math could be fun. My daughter was having her final exam in Algebra 2 the following day and worked with the tutor for two hours. When he left he assured me that my daughter would get an A on the exam. Of course, I was very skeptical, especially having had other tutors work with her in the past and never receiving the desired results. That night I could see that she was feeling more confident and sure enough she came home the following day so excited that she did get an A on the test. Our tutor from Adam Wes Academics knows how to connect with students. He has the ability to turn something that my daughter thought was impossible into making her a success. Words cannot express my appreciation to him and Adam Wes Academics for not only teaching her in a way she could understand, but also giving her the tools she needed to continue to succeed. He really cared about her and even called the following day to speak to her. I honestly don't know how he accomplished so much with my daughter in so little time except that he has a very special gift."

"I found out about Adam Wes Academics because my little sister was using him as a geometry tutor. When I began struggling in AP Calculus my mom suggested I use Adam Wes Academics as well. I had no idea it was possible to tutor math all the way from geometry to calculus but in my first session with my tutor I officially decided that he was not only the best tutor I had ever had, but also the smartest person I had ever met. Every single question I asked him he knew the answer to and every single problem I showed him he could solve. Since I began using Adam Wes Academics, my test scores have gone up significantly. My tutor was so helpful that I also recommended Adam Wes Academics to my best friend who has also seen a significant increase in her test results. My tutor had an extreme knowledge of all levels of math and was genuinely interested in helping everyone who he tutors not only improve their grades but also truly understand the material. I would highly recommend Adam Wes Academics to anyone who needs help with any level of math."

Dynamic Teaching and Coaching for the GMAT, GRE, and SAT

In my decade of teaching, I have worked with GMAT and GRE students of all educational backgrounds and have helped them to maximize their scores through clear, precise and compassionate teaching combined with an exceptional content knowledge. Many of my students have previously used another form of test preparation and were not happy with the outcome, but after working with me, my students were thrilled at how easy and interesting math (yes even GMAT/GRE math) can be.

Private, Personalized Service

The GMAT and GRE exams tests many years of acquired math skills, in addition to logic and reasoning skills and far too often students are placed in a crowded classroom course that fails to deliver this knowledge in the time provided. I provide students with highly personalized teaching that is strategic to their needs. As a result, my students see greater improvement in their math abilities, confidence, and their scores.

Professional Teaching Experience

Too often many tutors have limited formal teaching experience and as a result are unskilled, ill-prepared, or unqualified for the challenging task of teaching adult professionals the math necessary for a good score. I have professionally taught students from grade school to graduate school and I realize the importance of clarity, organization, efficiency, and compassion while working with students.

Original Teaching Curriculum

Too often students are given inadequate practice materials and as a result, they struggle to acquire the practice that is necessary to internalize and understand the math material that is tested. I work with an original math curriculum that was created by high school math teachers, GMAT and GRE tutors, and college math professors. The questions afford my students the advantage of practicing with material that is realistic, skill-building, and that allows students to learn global skills that can be employed across a large facet of math questions.

I will look forward to speaking with you about how I can help you to reach your target score. Please respond to this ad with phone number and the best time to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also indicate the test you are studying for, and include a little bit about your goals. I am always interested in hearing about your unique background.

Achieve your dream to sing! (Edmonds/Lynnwood/Shoreline)

Improve Your Singing and Achieve Your Dreams!

Malya Muth, Singing and Career Guidance Coach
You have a dream to sing like a star.

You need to improve your singing with someone experienced and reliable. A singing expert who can truly get you where you want to go.

And though you are talented, sometimes you encounter problems with singing. Sometimes your throat hurts after singing, you run out of breath or you can't quite hit that high note the way you want. And while you know you have the passion and the drive, sometimes success seems out of reach. Your singing efforts are not always yielding the results you had hoped for.

It might be that you just need better singing skills; better breath control, a more open luscious tone, or more thrilling high notes. You need singing exercises to strengthen your voice, extend your vocal range and help you project across the stage and to the back of the hall.

Or it could be that adrenaline or performance anxiety gets in your way. You need to learn how to stay cool under pressure, how to move across the stage with confidence and grace. You want to be perceived as charismatic and believable.

I will help you improve your skills - and if you are ambitious - build a singing career in whatever type of music you love - Opera, Musical Theater, Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Country or Pop. Whatever it is, you need a firm foundation to build your house upon. And once you are performing regularly, you need a technique that won't tire or damage your voice. And to get you started, I want to offer you a Free Lesson!

That's right - because it's important to know if you've found the right teacher for you I want you to come to my studio, and I'll give you a full voice lesson for free. Tell me one vocal problem you are having and I will help you solve it. I guarantee it!

************* What You'll Learn ***************

I’ve been studying singing and performing for most of my life. Having experienced many of the issues that I’ve described above, and through persistence and a dedication to finding ways to improve my voice, I have gone on to be a very successful solo artist in many genres of singing. Now I’ve developed The Northwest Vocal Arts Coaching System™ for Singers to teach you how to gain a solid technique that will help you overcome any vocal problem you are experiencing.

This 6 step process will teach you:

• How your voice works and how to develop a beautiful tone
• How to support your singing with your breath
• Vocal and physical exercises for strengthening your voice
• How to shape your song musically and dramatically
• How to eliminate audition/performance anxiety nerves
• What you need to know to prepare for an audition or performance

This will get you started on your vocal technique. As we progress, we will move into working on your career path, and I will guide you through finding auditions, performance opportunities, preparing your audition materials, and press kit (including headshots) plus getting you signed up with talent agencies, into shows, bands or opera programs - whatever your dream may be. I also hold Student Recitals and Performance Workshops to give you a chance to learn through experience by getting up and singing for others.

Look, there are a lot of people in the world who will tell you not to go for it. I call these the “can’t do and can’t have” people. These people are destined to stay where they are, and be limited by their circumstances.

But you have a passion; and the desire and talent to go with it. You are a “can do” person who believes in creating your own opportunities. My passion is to help dreamers like you who are hungry and have a “yes – I can” attitude reach success as singers and performers. I’m a dream-weaver who will work with you to translate your raw talent into professional skill, and then guide you through the steps to get further down the road on your journey.

I love to work with people who are absolutely committed to the process of succeeding. If you want it badly enough, I will help you get there.

Look around my website: http://www.nwvocalarts.com

In addition to private coaching, I also offer Learn-At-Home Lesson CDs to supplement my teaching, as well as links to important resources for finding sheet music, karaoke-style music CD’s with a full band sound (minus vocals) and links to auditions, competitions and other sites to further your career.

Come for a free lesson. Tell me what your dream is. Then let’s get started.

Guitar Lessons (Phinney / Greenwood, North Seattle)

Hello, my name is Scott Myers. I have been playing the guitar for 15 years, since I was 11. I am almost completely self-taught, and was never satisfied with the few lessons I did receive. Learning an instrument should be interesting and enjoyable, not boring or frustrating. And it should never be forced.

My specialty is the acoustic guitar but I have taught the electric guitar as well. I have been teaching the guitar for over 2 years and I love it! I taylor my lessons to each student, and I work hard to find out how you learn and what is the best way to teach you what you want to learn. It is a very casual and low-pressure environment.

I can teach:

the basics,
chords,
finger-picking,
folk songs,
pop songs,
rock songs,
blues,
soloing,
beginning classical,
arranging,
reading music and tab,
music theory,
songwriting,
jamming,
perfomance,
alternate tunings
--even singing!

You can bring me songs that you want learn and I can figure out how to play them and show you how to play them, or figure out what it will take to get you to the level where you can play them.

I especially encourage beginners to contact me. Beginning is the hardest part, and a bad teacher can really ruin it for you. I am patient and I love the music, and I'll work hard to help you get over those initial hurdles. I won't start you off with boring scales or exercises, but instead will to get you playing interesting and fun things right away, in the first few lessons. I won't test you or make you perform or anything like that, but will let you learn in a natural way, and help you to do so.

I can teach intermediate musicians who want to learn new things, are stuck or bored and want to get more into the guitar and music in general.

$40 per lesson (usally 1 hour or a little longer). I'm located near near the Woodland Park Zoo in North Seattle.

Available Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. so call me and we can find a time that works for both of us. My phone number is (206) 501-9620. I look forward to hearing from you.

Guitar Lessons - Basic (Everett)

My name is Jon Olson, I am 25, friendly and smart. I am divorced, living in Everett, part of the time with my little girl, Camille Sunshine, who is 14 months old! I'm also unfortunately unemployed, which is why I am resorting to this ad, gratefully, I might add. I am offering basic acoustic guitar lessons, the details of which are as follows:

Beginning chords:

A Am B C D Dm E Em F G

In addition to this, I will provide you with a working knowledge of all components of the guitar itself, the strings (e,a,d,g,b,e) yes, there are two e's : )

For more advanced users, and for those interested in becoming electric guitarists, I will teach you a variety of bar chords, scales, and mehods of becoming fast with your fingers.

I have a very, very large variety of music for use in lessons, and a comprehensive homework strategy. Obviously, if you're interested, most of the work will be done on your own time. This is progressive and your progress is entirely up to you. I will simply provide you with the basics to get you on your feet, teach you a few songs, and get you moving! I currently have one student, named Seth. He's 11 years old and the son of a very good friend of mine. If you would like a testimonial, I would be happy to give you his mother's phone number. He is also autistic, if that gives you a basic understanding of just how patient I can be! Haha : ) I don't charge his mother for these lessons because I just wouldn't feel right about it. I love the time we have, watching him learn and grow. You wouldn't believe how rewarding it is!

The acoustic guitar is very special. It can be your best friend when you have nobody, it can entertain guests, it can duet with another, and it can really rock when you feel like it.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you! : )

Oh! One last thing, money. 25 bucks a lesson.

Thanks!

Seeking a Mechanics of Materials tutor for this upcoming weekend. (Seattle & Eastside)

Hello,

I have found many tutors on here for physics, but I don't see many tutoring ads for engineering fundamentals. I have an exam next week in my Mechanics of Materials class (also goes by the name Strength of Materials). I am seeking a tutor who is familiar with this material and excels in this area. My exam will be covering Stress-Strain Diagrams, Hooke's Law for Uniaxial Loading, Failure Theory (Maximum Distortion Energy Theory, Maximum Shearing Stress Theory, Maximum Normal Stress Theory, Failure Envelopes), Generalized Hooke's Law for Multiaxial Loading, Strain Rosettes, Torsion, and Angle of Twist. I am looking for a two or three hour session this weekend and am willing to pay up to $25/hour.

I am looking particularly for someone who is a physics major or an engineering major or someone who is an undergraduate student who excelled in this course. I am using the textbook Mechanics of Materials by RC Hibbeler. I have a pretty strong understanding of a lot of the topics. I have read the sections in the textbook and worked some random problems here and there, but I would like to meet up with someone who can answer some questions I have. If this is something you think you would be interested in, please send me an e-mail message as soon as you can. I would really like to do this on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

My e-mail address is: mw4650@gmail.com

Tutoring: Math and Logic (Auburn, FedWay, Kent, DMoines, GRCC / HL)

Hello.

Im a mathematician and logician. I have been tutoring students of all ages in mathematics for nearly a decade, and I just took up tutoring in logic. I am in the process of earning my masters in mathematics and my aim is to eventually teach university level math as a professor. I am excellent at math and have always done well, and I am regarded by most of the students I have had to be an insightful tutor as well. I dont conform to the teaching standards of most math teachers, but have my own method that I personally believe to be more effective. I emphasize concept over memorization, understanding over repetition. I teach not only with example problems, but I explain concepts and even go so far as to prove the rules most mathematicians take for granted. I believe in developing a firm foundation, laying the groundwork for further development.

I have expertise in the algebras, geometries, trigonometry, and calculus. But I can teach pretty much any math, including probability, statistics, etc. My education spans far and wide in mathematics. I can teach Logic up to and including first-order polyadic predicate logics, and some set theory.

I may be able to teach some of the sciences, but I caution you there. I am good at science but I havent taken any in a while.

I service the South King County area, to include mainly the region around I-5 in the county... specifically Federal Way, Kent, Des Moines, Auburn... I service the students at both Green River Community College and Highline Community. I am willing to meet up at any public place, library, coffee house, book store, school campus and the like. Yours or my homes are also open to negotiation.

My going rate is $12 per hour, no less than 1 hour per session, prorated after that. My price is also negotiable depending on convenience of location and commute and the regularity of the student. I prefer at least 1-days notice for any appointment. The quoted price is more than fair considering my skills as a mathematician and tutor. Those more qualified (formally, professionally) can ask as much as 50 or more, and math tutors are in fairly high demand. I am asking as little as I am because I dont have any formal or professional credentials to teach and because I am also new to the area, so I dont have a local reputation yet.

If you are interested, please email me or call me (253) 737-8017
By viewing this ad I will assume you are looking to either start playing guitar/bass, or are looking to expand your playing level. Do you have a strong desire to create music in the following three methods? Theory -- ear training\analysis by slowing down favorite artist via computer software -- and improvising.
The improvising part is usually the hardest to grasp, but if you learn all the different modes, and not just memorizing scales, you can avoid the limits of improvising only.
Ear training is of equal importance, and I have all the hardware\software needed to achieve the most in this area, including the ability to slow down your favorite guitarist.
If any of this sounds like it would fit your goals, or you have any question in regards to receiving a more detail description on the specific methods taught ( hammering, bending, best method for right hand, and so on), please email or call at the following.

Who I am:
I am a lifelong music lover who has 25 years playing experience and 11 years of teaching experience. I play mostly classical but love all types of music. I spent 3 years at Trinity Internationl University in IL. as a piano performance major and have taught privately and at various music studios. I am a very fun, hardworking teacher who sees each student as an opportunity to teach and as a lesson to learn from.

Who my students are:
My students are YOU!! My students range in age from 5- 105! I do accept younger students on a case-by-case, individually assesed basis. I take all levels and all walks of life. As long as you have access to a piano and are willing to learn and work I can get you playing. I ask that my students practice daily and come prepared for lessons but my goal is to pass on a love of music and of learning.

What I do:
I observe and assess each students' abilities and goals. I match up your way of learning with the best method and books that I can find. I prepare each lesson for each individual. I do my very best to make each lesson fulfilling and productive

What I expect:
I expect each student to come to each lesson prepared and ready to go. I expect my students to practice daily and to bring lots of questions to lessons. I do NOT expect perfection at any point along the way, I expect my students to do their very best, which will always be enough.

My lessons are $15.00 a half hour, payment is monthly and will be paid at the beginning of the month. Books and aids are extra and are your responsiblity to aquire. I do have my own private library that I will loan out to students but regular lesson books you will have to get on your own. I offer discounted rates to parents with more that one child that wants to take lessons or to couples who would both like to learn. All the other details and any questions you may have we can work out later.

I have a Bachelor's in English and am skilled at explaining how languages work, and I have good accents in Spanish, French, and other languages (Turkish, Korean). I can provide references for language-exchanges and tutoring I have done.

Here's how it works:

In English, I will check your experience level and tutor you accordingly with books, CDs, and music.

In Spanish, French, or another language, I can tutor you with CDs, music, and culture lessons. Full disclosure: I don't have a degree in a foreign language, but I am quick to pick them up and can help you to stay on track while learning the language. I've always been told by teachers and natural speakers that I have a good accent in these languages.

We will have fun learning the languages! Lessons are $15/hour. Get in touch if you'd like to hear more.
“One thing Jeff did a great job with was connecting with our student on his level. Not only did C make it through the math year successfully, but he told us regularly how much his time with Jeff helped him. I think it really helped to have someone who would take the time to go through things at a little bit slower pace, and individually with our student.

I am a Western Washington University graduate and a Washington State Certified Teacher K-8. I am also a guest teacher in the South Kitsap School District. I have witnessed first-hand how difficult it is for a classroom teacher to transmit the inordinate amount of content that Washington State requires them to, so I offer assistance by tutoring students in grades 3-6 in the following areas: Math, Science, Reading, and Writing. My fees are $40.00 per hour and I have many references that I can provide upon request. Insuring your child understands the learning standards for grades 3-6, is paramount for their future academic success in higher grades. Don't send your student to Junior High unprepared. Contact me now.

Musikgarten - Early Childhood Music Class (0-5 yr old)

Musikgarten Programs awaken and develop children’s inborn joy and talent for making music. Since early childhood is a crucial time for brain development, it is the optimal time to start this music journey.

Here are some of the highlights of this music gift that lasts a lifetime.

The Plan – Only Musikgarten offers a comprehensive and sequential plan for music development of children from birth to age nine. Each of our six classes stands on its own and fits the development needs for children. Class time is educational, fun and purposeful.

The Teachers – Musikgarten teachers are highly trained professionals with classroom and field experiences in early childhood music education and child development.

The Curriculum – Musikgarten programs are based on children’s development needs as they grow. Favorite songs, stories, and dances are revisited throughout. Children will master and enjoy these activities with successful learning experiences.

Family Involvement - Families will receive CDs, family activity guides and instruments to continue their bonding and the fun of music with their children at home.

My name is Scott Fikse and I'm a Tacoma native with a degree in Music from PLU.
Learning an instrument can enrich your life in many ways, and you'll notice the difference when you take lessons from someone with both the technical knowledge and passion for teaching.

I teach privately or at the Open Arts Studio in North Tacoma. At the Open Arts Studio, we offer both private and group classes for beginner, intermediate, and early-advanced students. Adults meet their goals and learn the instrument in a laid-back atmosphere. Kids have fun and learn self-confidence while focusing on a well-rounded approach to learning the piano.

I have a classical background but work with a variety of styles:
Classical, Improvisation, Jazz, Rock, Musical theater, etc.

As a teacher, I present a well-rounded approach to learning a new instrument. We'll cover theory, proper technique, some history, and a variety of repertoire that fits your interests.
I believe music should be fun and accessible to anyone. Feel free to email or call me with questions. All ages and skill levels welcome.
