Job Summary:
becker&mayer!, a premier book producer located in Seattle, WA, is seeking an experienced Editor to contribute to the success of its juvenile book group, which produces approximately 50 titles a year. The juvenile book group is renowned for creating and manufacturing unique titles in the ¡§book-plus¡¨ category that are engaging, educational, and of exceptional quality. Our clients include Disney, Scholastic Book Clubs, Scholastic Book Fairs, Silver Dolphin, and others.
The Associate Editor manages the editorial process from concept to publication on multiple book projects, and is the primary contact with the publisher. Acts as the team lead on designated projects. The Associate Editor also serves on the proposal team for new projects, developing book ideas, sourcing authors, and writing proposals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
„X Manages the editorial process from concept to publication.
„X Edits projects and proposals.
„X Develops book ideas, both content and package.
„X Researches and sources appropriate authors.
„X Negotiates author contracts.
„X Writes proposals.
„X Oversees editorial contractors, such as copy editors, fact checkers, and others.
„X Develops, monitors, and troubleshoots editorial deadlines.
„X Develops and expands pool of editorial talent.
„X Provides guidance for and/or mentors other team members as needed.
„X Collaborates with other team members to guide projects from development through manufacturing in a timely manner.
„X Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements:
