Excellent opportunity for a contract database programmer/designer to design and build a self-contained database application for the leader in sustainability solutions for the Entertainment Industry. GreenDisk is the industry leader in secure destruction of media (CDs, DVDs, etc.) and the recycling of associated material. We are building an application that takes information from various sources such as scanned data and emailed files and creating a central database storing data for tracking and reporting on the status of material.
We are looking for an experienced DB programmer in the Microsoft development environment who has designed database apps, worked with scanning software/scanned information, and can build such an application. The individual can work from anywhere in the Puget Sound area with only occasional in-person meetings. The individual must therefore be a good communicator and be able to work independently with very tight deadlines. Knowledge of possible SCANNERS and associated software is A BIG PLUS. PLEASE HIGHLIGHT PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE WITH SCANNERS IN YOUR COMMUNICATION TO US.
Primary Responsibilities:
Understand the business requirements of GreenDisk and its client.
Work from a detailed functional spec to design the database application. Its critical to ask questions to make sure the functional spec makes sense and can effectively be implemented technically.
Provide input on choosing scanners in the operation.
Work closely by phone with the client technical team, transportation vendor, and GreenDisk technical personnel to ensure good information flow.
Develop the application in the Microsoft Development Environment (SQL Server and .NET).
Work with functional team to test the application.
Ensure a smooth transition to enable maintenance/enhancement programming.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Five or more years of professional software development.
Strong analysis, design, and development skills.
Ability to work with very short deadlines.
Proven track record of delivering high quality applications.
Living in the Puget Sound area.
Able to start immediately.
