Girl Scouts of Western Washington (www.girlscoutsww.org) is currently seeking an enthusiastic, customer service oriented individual with good camp programming background to serve as the primary site host for the organization’s 455 acre Camp River Ranch located outside of Carnation. Year round users include Girl Scout troops as well as outside organizations. This individual would serve as the Assistant Camp Director to our summer resident and day camps. Qualified candidates will have experience in assisting with resident camps and camp programs, desire to live at camp and are motivated to positively impact the lives of girls. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), exempt position with excellent benefits that include medical, dental, vision, 403(b) and paid leave. Housing is provided.

Essential Functions:
• Assist Camp Director in the planning, evaluating and implementing of resident and day camps at Camp River Ranch.

• Assists in the development, management and staffing of resident and day camp program at River Ranch; may lead in the staffing of one or more of the camp programs.

• In coordination with the Camp Director, recruit, hire, train, and supervise portions of the seasonal or intermittent resident camp staff and/or day camp staff and other site-based program staff and volunteers.

• Assist in the development and management of the River Ranch resident and day camp budgets.

• Maintain high standards of program, health, safety and security of campers and staff in accordance with council, Girl Scouts USA, and American Camp Association guidelines and policies. Ensure that American Camp Association, Safety-Wise and Girl Scouts of Western Washington policies and standards are met in all areas of responsibility.

• Coordinate with the Camping Program Registrars to ensure that camp registration information is accurate and up-to-date. Distribute registration paperwork to Program Coordinators, the Health Supervisor, and Camp Programs Manager as necessary.

• Participate in total camp program including all meals, flag ceremonies, campfires, all-camp events, opening and closing days, pre-camp training, and post-camp activities.

• Provide year-round customer focused user services including check-in, checkout, hosting, equipment needs and information.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum age 21 years.
• One year experience assisting in the management of, residential or comparable, camp programs.
• At least one season as an onsite camp staff member supervising seasonal staff.
• Demonstrated understanding of customer service and guest relations. Effective conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated success in leading a diverse seasonal staff and volunteers.
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing innovative youth programs and delivery systems for diverse populations.
• Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective interactions with individuals at all levels and backgrounds.
• Experience in the development and administration of work plans, budgets, and program evaluation.
• Experience with waterfront, horses, archery, trips and challenge course and environmental education programs preferred.
• Willing to live and work on site during the summer and as needed during the year.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain one within 1 month of hire. Wilderness first Aid preferred.
• Outdoor education certifications strongly preferred. (Watercraft, climbing, life guarding)
• Proficiency with computers and basic office equipment including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Valid Washington State drivers license, vehicle in good condition, proof of insurance, excellent driving record and the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography.
• Satisfactory results from criminal background search.
• Willing to become a member of Girl Scouts.
