Summary:
Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Senior Technical Artist to support and assist the Technical Art Director. This can include work in visual R&D, performance monitoring, standard setting, as well as process and pipeline. The senior technical artist can also be called on to solve and implement complex visual problems for the game.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Help refine and optimize process and pipeline for game asset creation.
  • R&D both new techniques and solutions to complex problems posed by game design and direction.
  • Participates in departmental meetings to share personal ideas and define the look and feel of areas and characters.
  • Mentors more junior members of the FX team and serves as a repository of special knowledge for the group.

    Work Experience:
  • At least 5-8+ years experience in the industry
  • At least 2-3+ years in the industry as a technical artist.
  • At least 1 published games preferably 360 or PS3

    Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:
  • Minimum 2-year 2D/3D art degree, architecture degree, Computer Science or equivalent with excellent critique and vocabulary skills. BFA or CS degree preferred.

    Knowledge/Skills:
  • Excellent technical understanding of Maya or Max.
  • Expert mel, maxscript or equivalent scripting skills.
  • Strong understanding of general artistic aesthetics.
  • A strong understanding of personal schedule management.
  • Loves console games, with an ability to critically analyze them
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills.
  • A thorough understanding of modern 3d engines and the technology behind them.

    Other Requirements:
  • Shader programming experience (Cg/HLSL).
  • Any additional programming skills are a plus.
  • Strong technical and aesthetic understanding of in-game special FX a plus.
