Summary:
Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc. seeks a Senior Artist, FX to work closely with the Technical Art Director to maintain and create the high quality Special Effects assets for the game. This role will assist leads in helping define process and pipelines along with aesthetic goals, with a strong focus on technical trouble shooting and problem solving.
Job Responsibilities:
Using industry standard 3D and 2D packages as well as proprietary Monolith tools, creates art assets for their assigned development project. These assets could include thing as simple as a smoke particle systems all the way up to a fully destroyed cityscape.
Assists in R&D efforts for tools enhancements and prototyping of new technology.
Mentors more junior members of the animation team and serves as a repository of special knowledge for the group.
Participates in departmental meetings to share personal ideas and define the look and feel of areas and characters.
Work Experience:
5 – 8 or more years of art and design experience required.
Must possess good artistic skills and a working knowledge of 2D/3D art production.
Must have worked with a real-time 3d engine.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:
At Least a 2-year 2D/3D art degree, architecture degree, or equivalent. BFA is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
Strong interest in computer or video games.
Must be proficient in one or more types of 3D software (Maya, 3D Studio Max, SoftImage).
Must be proficient with multiple 2D applications, including Adobe AfterEffects, Photoshop, and various similar applications.
Strong 2D digital painting and/or drawing skills.
Strong understanding of modern real-time 3d engines.
