Hi - I'm an experienced banjo instructor who teaches and plays Scruggs style three finger banjo (with a little Bobby Osborne, Don Reno and Ralph Stanley thrown in). For the uninitiated, this is a style of playing that combines the use of finger and thumb picks to create melodies and rhythms. I have at the present time a couple of openings for new students. I charge $30 an hour and lessons are given at my home in Redmond. If you don't own an banjo, I can recommend where to get a decent instrument at a reasonable price. I combine teaching new tunes with lots of review of the ones you have already learned and will play along on guitar to teach you rhythm, backup and accompaniment. I believe in being very patient and complimentary. If you put in the time and effort you will learn very fast and have a lot of fun doing it. I have several students who are now out there playing both for fun and semi-professionally. If you would like to hear a cut of me playing live on stage, go to

Thanks, and I hope you'll let me help you learn. Bob Catlin (206) 992-3396 - OR - (425) 702-8598
