Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville is looking for a Sr. Staff Accountant. Work for one of Washington's oldest and most acclaimed wineries!
This is a key position with the accounting team at Ste. Michelle that is responsible for assisting in the accounting for three joint ventures. This position will prepare, compile, calculate, and analyze accounting transactions, records and reports in accordance with GAAP and company policies. This includes the accurate and timely preparation of partnership financial statements for distribution to winery management and joint venture partners. This position is accountable to work effectively with other key members of SMWE, UST and the accounting team to accomplish position goals and objectives.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of joint venture financial statements in accordance with GAAP, company policy and joint venture agreements. Ensure that monthly and quarterly financial reporting is relevant, accurate and supportable, and prepared and distributed on time.
Responsible for the preparation and timely processing of general ledger transactions. Work closely with Sr. Accounting Manager and other accounting staff to ensure that all deadlines related to the monthly accounting close process are satisfied.
Responsible for the preparation of GL account reconciliations, ensuring that financial statement balances accurately represent company assets, liabilities and equity. Ensure that all reconciliations contain proper supporting documentation and adhere to company standards and internal controls.
Assist the Sr. Accounting Manager and other accounting management with the following:
o Audits preparation of required audit schedules to comply with internal and external audit requests.
o Ad hoc reporting prepare financial and analytical reports to satisfy internal management and parent company requests. Work with other winery employees to maximize system resources including JDE, Outlooksoft and Cognos.
o Regular review of contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with terms, ensuring that joint venture accounting policies and procedures are kept current
o Communication with joint venture partners to obtain and/or provide necessary information.
o Maintenance of joint venture accounting files.
Non-Essential Functions:
Possess solid knowledge and experience related to partnership/joint venture accounting.
Must have excellent communication skills in order to work with other departments within Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, as well as joint venture partners.
Must also be able to remain calm and make good sound decisions when faced with pressure and continual change.
Must also be willing to actively participate in multi-functional teams.
Working Conditions:
Requires regular overtime and weekend hours during quarter/year-end close.
Requires occasional overtime during the week.
Minimal travel to other Ste. Michelle locations.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required
CPA preferred
Three to five years of accounting experience
Working knowledge of GAAP
Experience with partnership accounting strongly preferred.
Must be an expert with Microsoft Excel.
Proficient knowledge and use of automated accounting systems.
JD Edwards AS400 systems experience preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities within deadlines.
Wine Industry and/or food processing experience is preferred.
